San Francisco
The raised relief sits on San Francisco's northeast corner, where the street grid runs straight over Russian Hill, Nob Hill and Telegraph Hill and down to the piers of the Embarcadero. The bay wraps the top edge, and the printed map carries the grid on to the south and west.
Across the map the ground climbs about 170 meters from the bay, stepped into twelve layers of color, so every hill shows under the grid. Every contour, street and pier comes from open map data, simplified so the city reads from across a room. The relief is printed on our own printer and mounted on a card with the city's name and coordinates, then framed in oak or black, ready to hang.
Medium: an A4 print with a 13 cm relief, 32 × 42 cm in its frame. Large: an A3 print with a 20 cm relief, 42 × 52 cm in its frame.
